Plymouth Platform supports the development of early career artists, creative practitioners and arts professionals whilst simultaneously developing the mentoring skills of more established artists and professionals in the region.

Plymouth Platform: 2017

Between February – October 2017, 3 selected artists worked with mentors to develop their skills and knowledge, to deliver high quality projects for Plymouth Art Weekender (22nd – 24th September 2017).

2017’s participants were Laura Edmunds, Rosie King and Jules Varnedoe, mentored by Hannah Rose, Sophie Mellor and Bruce Asbestos.

To support this process, each artist was been awarded a small production bursary and artist/mentor pairs will undertake a research visit visit together (to relevant exhibitions, public realm projects or artist’s studios around the UK).

Artists, their mentors & invited peers met at mid-point review sharing sessions, facilitated by PAC HomeVisual Arts South West.

 

 


Plymouth Platform is designed & coordinated by Visual Arts Plymouth, informed by previous mentoring schemes run by VASW, a-n (review bursaries) and Hand in Glove (Bristol) and is supported financially through Horizon – a collaborative two year programme of visual contemporary arts, funded through Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and supported by Plymouth Culture.
